Referring a case to us
Referring a case to us is straightforward. We accept referrals from case managers and insurers for workers compensation and compulsory third-party claims (CTP), both on-panel and off-panel.
Once we receive a referral, we move quickly. We aim to make first contact with the injured worker within one business day, and we'll keep you updated as the case progresses.
We understand that your KPIs depend on timely, quality service delivery. That's what we're here to provide.

- Direct access to your consultant: Case managers have direct contact with the Ascent consultant managing their files. There are no call centres, no intermediaries. When you need to speak to someone, you can.

We achieve this through our coordinated care team approach. Rather than managing cases in isolation, we actively engage everyone involved in the injured worker's recovery: their treating practitioners, their employer and you. When the care team is aligned and communicating well, outcomes improve.
We are particularly experienced in managing complex cases including multi-trauma, psychological injury, chronic pain and files where biopsychosocial factors require careful handling. These are often the cases where provider quality matters most.

Coordinating the care team
Occupational rehabilitation works best when everyone works toward the same goal. As your rehabilitation provider, we take responsibility for bringing the care team together and keeping it aligned.
This means facilitating case conferences with treating practitioners, maintaining open communication with employers about return to work planning and keeping you informed at every stage of the process.
We don't wait to be asked. If we identify a barrier to recovery, a gap in communication or a risk to the return to work plan, we raise it proactively and work toward a resolution. This is central to the Ascent Way.

About Ascent's role
Ascent Rehabilitation was established in 2010 and has grown to become one of the ACT's leading occupational rehabilitation providers. We are an accredited rehabilitation provider and we work with both on-panel and off-panel insurers across workers compensation and CTP schemes.
We are a boutique provider, which means our caseloads are managed carefully. We don't take on more work than we can deliver well. Our consultants are experienced, qualified allied health professionals supported by strong clinical leadership and a culture of continuous learning.
Our service area covers the ACT and southern NSW, including Queanbeyan, Yass, Goulburn and surrounding regions. We are actively expanding our capacity in the southern NSW market.

Our Rehabilitation Services for Insurers
Functional Capacity Evaluation
We use WorkHab's Functional Capacity Evaluation programme, a functional profiling tool that assesses a client's response to a variety of tasks.
Manual Handling Training
Manual handling training is an important component of safe work practices and the most effective means of ensuring staff safety in environments that require heavy lifting.
Pre-Employment Screening
A pre-employment screen is a focused form of a WorkHab Functional Capacity Evaluation that assesses the specific physical demands of a work role and provides objective measures to determine whether a person can meet those demands.
Vocational Assessment
A vocational assessment is a comprehensive tool to establish a person's redeployment options outside their usual work role.
Activity of Daily Living (ADL) Assessments
An ADL assessment helps clients function independently in their home and community. We usually complete this at the client's home and gather information in both conversation and practical demonstration.
Clients may be asked to demonstrate tasks like meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, gardening, mobility and transfers, transport, shopping and personal hygiene.
The goal is to identify occupational challenges and work toward client goals through task modification and assistive equipment where helpful.
Home Assessment and Modifications
We provide home assessment services to help clients improve independence with daily activities in their home environment. The goal is to identify needs and provide support through training, education, assistive equipment or environmental modification.
We make specific recommendations based on the individual's injury, stage of recovery and home situation. We pay particular attention to access both inside and outside the home, considering mobility and strength.
Equipment Assessment and Recommendations
We provide ergonomic and equipment assessments for our clients. We assess workstations and home environments comprehensively, taking into account daily requirements and any current concerns or pre-existing issues.
We provide a detailed report that includes medical and ergonomic advice for all parties.
