Bronwen commenced as a Rehabilitation Consultant at Ascent Rehabilitation in 2018, bringing with her range of transferrable clinical skills from her extensive history working within the mental health sector. Bronwen has worked in a range of settings, including the Defence, Juvenile Justice and Child Protection Sectors, and within the service areas of trauma, sexual abuse and misconduct, family sensitive practice and suicide prevention. She joined Ascent Rehabilitation with fifteen years within these sectors.
Bronwen has progressed to the Business Manager position to share her clinical and case management knowledge with staff as well as ensuring Ascent services continue to be provided at best practice, evidenced based standards. She has ensured that Ascent’s reputation of excellence in occupational rehabilitation is also supported by robust metrics in outcomes on files. To achieve this, Bronwen invests her time into her team and their files, she has a working knowledge of every file held within the organisation and supports the Consultants to take a proactive, creative solution focused approached with every situation.
Bronwen aspires to improve the experience for all those impacted by a workplace injury, and this led her to join the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association on the ACT Board in order to collaborate for positive change. Her passion, knowledge and enthusiasm led to her being invited onto the National Board, where she is an active member seeking to promote the industry.
In her consulting role, Bronwen enjoys working with clients who present with a range of needs and helping to support them to return to their pre-injury life. Bronwen also brings the knowledge of the influence of mindset and outlook to her work with claims, seeking to increase resilience of claimants while advocating for the healthy benefits of good work. Bronwen seeks to achieve this through a holistic and educational approach to engaging both the client, the workplace and treating professionals to achieve the best possible outcome.
Bronwen possesses excellent communication skills which assist her to translate at times complex mental health issues into more relatable and easy to understand concepts. Her personal practice model incorporates a strengths-based approach which supports her to approach each claim creatively in order to explore possible solutions. She is able to build rapport and connection with all clients and through deep listening is able to quickly engage with what is meaningful for them.
Bronwen’s special skills include clinical supervision; applied suicide intervention skills trainer; counselling and debriefing; critical incident coordination; training and performance management.
