Jonathan has nineteen years of experience in the occupational rehabilitation industry. He established Ascent Rehabilitation Pty Ltd in 2010. His main ambition in this industry was to create an organisation that would uphold his views and beliefs of reputable and ethical support for clients and stakeholders, into a new generation of rehabilitation consultants. Since Ascent’s establishment, it has grown into a multi-disciplinary company with specialisation in both physical and mental health injuries. While Jonathan leads the team in his role as the Director, he also remains dedicated and committed to his direct practice and maintains an ongoing caseload and is often specially requested to assist with the most complex of injuries and claims.
Jonathan has a special interest in complex case management and is an affiliate member of the Australian Pain Society, attending scientific conferences most years since 2010. Jon has a special interest in working with clients experiencing sustained pain, with the aim of assisting them to regain control in their daily functioning within a range of environments. He has a passion for assisting clients explore new ways of perceiving and interacting with their environments to bring about increases in perceived control, self-worth, and efficacy. He also has a special interest in pain management and concussion, supporting clients with evidenced based approaches to the daily management of sustained pain and post-concussive symptoms.
Jonathan is trained in motivational interviewing, mediation, and the mutual learning model, to facilitate mutual beneficial outcomes for all parties. He holds the belief that effective communication is the key that can open any door, and behind that door is a range of opportunities to help achieve goals and overcome barriers. Jon and the Ascent team highly value relationships within the allied health community, as well as the broader medical community including specialists, surgeons and treating doctors.
Jonathan has experience working with private, government, not for profit, commercial, industrial, white and blue colour industries, and has established close working relationships with businesses in the Canberra Community.
Jonathan’s special services include pain education, pacing and activity modulation to assist clients with sustained pain reintegrate into activity, including work; knowledge of Post Concussive Syndrome; and ergonomic assessment evaluation, risk and hazard identification.
